Randy salvaged a sunken Sunfish at the age of 15 and taught himself to sail.  Since then, he has spent over 45 years cruising, racing, day sailing and serving as an official in his native Georgia and in places around the world.  He had a variety of roles relating to the Sailing competition for the 1996 Olympic Games and served on the Board of his home yacht club.  He has cruised throughout the Caribbean and New England, as well as in Tahiti, Greece and beyond.

He is a former member and director of University yacht Club and the UYC Maritime Foundation.  He is now a member of Lake Lanier Sailing Club.

Randy owns what his wife refers to as his “last” boat, a 1981 Cape Dory 27 named “Spirit.”  He sails Spirit out of the University Yacht Club on Lake Lanier in Georgia.
